Our Story

Book Bazaar was opened in 1974 by Beryl McLeod. John and Jayne Wyatt bought the store in June of 1994 (see Beryl's parting message on p.19 of that month's Glebe Report). Since then, the Book Bazaar has moved from its original home in the Glebe to larger storefront further north up Bank Street. Book Bazaar was one of the first independent used book shops to begin selling online.
In December of 2021, the store was bought by Vaughn Macdonald, who now runs the store in conjunction with Black Squirrel Books.
The store employs a handful of local individuals and has served a wide range of clients including senators, parliamentarians, and international literary figures. We have shipped books all over the world, including Australia, Japan, Brazil, and even the House of Lords in London, England.
If you're a bibliophile, you can ❤ our store on LibraryThing.com.
